During WWII, Bill’s brother Harry, assigned to the 17th Pursuit Squadron reaching rank of Technical Sergeant with the 24th pursuit group, until they were in the Battle of Corregidor. They were overrun by the Japanese and taken as prisoners in May 1942, held on the islands until 1944 when the Japanese went to transport these remaining prisoners to mainland Japan. That is when an American sub fired and sunk the ship (Arisan Maru) losing, 1,800 soldiers on Oct 24, 1944. Only 5 Americans survived. Harry Schuh was classified as MIA being aboard that ship.
